Not that again…

As regular readers of this blog know, I’m a big fan of authenticity. Rarely seen in general election politics, to me, authenticity is the key to winning. The GOP has become adept at conveying the image of authenticity, even with the least authentic candidates while Democrats emphasize policies, issues, and polish in lieu of authenticity even with the most authentic candidates.

If anyone is listening out there… show us more of the authentic Barack Obama! It’s my belief that voters want to see the natural, yes authentic side, of a candidate. If the natural candidate doesn’t appear, they will buy the fake authenticity. To pull from the screenplay of The American President:

LEWIS: … People want leadership. And in the absence of genuine leadership, they will listen to anyone who steps up to the microphone. They want leadership, Mr. President. They’re so thirsty for it, they’ll crawl through the desert toward a mirage, and when they discover there’s no water, they’ll drink the sand.

I trust that the Obama campaign is fixin’ to show us the water in the coming weeks. We know it’s there, we see glimpses of it from time to time.
