Be still my heart.

iconHelp Jim Today!

I’m usually cranky after reading emails from the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee since Georgia is usually way off the radar. Imagine my surprise to receive an email titled “This one’s for Max” today!

This year, we have a real chance to make Chambliss feel the sting of defeat, but only if thousands of us act in the next 12 hours. The latest polls show Democrat Jim Martin within two points, so the DSCC is adding a 12th battleground state and making a major new investment to win Georgia. This is a brand-new, enormous opportunity and it brings us one step closer to that filibuster-proof majority.

Folks, this is real. We can do it. We will do it, with your help. Show the DSCC that we need Jim Martin in the US Senate and that we understand that a President Obama needs him too. Donate now, either directly to Jim Martin or to the DSCC.

I have never forgotten Saxby Chambliss’ revolting and repulsive hit piece equating Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein to triple-amputee war hero Max Cleland in 2002.

We are stretching every last dollar to cover this race at the very last minute. Martin will need all of our help if he’s going to knock off an entrenched Republican incumbent in the Deep South.

We have 12 hours to raise $247,632. With a new race to win and 11 others in full swing, meeting our goal has never been more important. To help us get there, a group of Senate Democrats will keep right on matching every contribution before midnight.

I need your help right now – in the next 12 hours – to defeat Chambliss and win a filibuster-proof majority. Even as little as $5 from you will help the DSCC put Democrats over the top in Georgia and beyond.

OK, maybe I need a little help here, but I LIKE to talk about the UnFair Tax. I think the more we talk about it the better. It’s one of those things that sounds good at first, but the more you look at it, the more you realize that it is a scam. It’s like the immigration debate last time. They thought that was going to be something that people just couldn’t disagree with, but it ended up punking their own candidates (I think).

It’s no more misleading than when they say letting the Bush tax cuts lapse is a tax increase. Get tough people! Use all the bullets! And do conservatives really want states collecting taxes for the feds? And what’s with this “eliminating the IRS BS? Where do the states send the money? To the Internal Sales Tax Revenue Service?

How could Republicans support something that will so dramatically discourage spending?

I also wanted to say with all of that in mind, if DSCC tightens up its aim a little, we can certainly use the artillery in this fight.

If they just stick to the usual – Saxby limiting your freedoms, in bed with corporate interests, etc., etc., it should go fine.

It just seems like a weird issue to go after.

Now, I believe the FairTax needs to be marginalized as a horrible idea (because it is), but three weeks before an election within which it is not a real issue seems like a *really* weird time to do it.

Agree. That ad is completely misleading.

Lo and behold, I agree with MotS. I saw the 23% sales tax ad misrepresenting the “fair tax” bill twice on CNN this morning, and I have to say I also agree with Herman Cain.

The DSCC made me agree with Herman Cain. I can’t stand Herman Cain. So now I can’t stand the DSCC. What a bunch of horse crap.

Here is something I think the readers here might like. Many libertarians are not waiting on the general election to be over to let their intentions be known:

I am so super pissed at the DSCC for that FairTax ad I could spit.
