This is hilarious, and as close as I will get to watching that movie.

ok – that makes sense 🙂
i was just kind of confused since i would have to say, if any director were to direct a movie version of my favorite childhood books, i would actually be pretty pleased with the prospect of spike jonze, but i totally get your reasoning

The whole point of the book is having imagination, and being able to escape inside your own head. I totally love and respect both Spike Jonze (did you know he went to my high school? True story!) and Maurice Sendak, but this movie just seems so utterly contrary to the spirit of the story. Why can’t kids just be left in peace to fill in the blanks for themselves? I would far rather they had collaborated on an original screenplay. Harumph.

ok – so that was pretty hilarious. but what exactly is your beef with the real movie? it should be said, that i have no skin in the game – i dont recall ever reading the book and i wont go out of my way to see the movie, i was just curious as to why you are so angry about it.
if anything, i’ve only been midly amused by it since maurice sendek has been all grumpy old man about it telling parents to shove it if they they the movie is too scary for kids
