General Poythress has a new anti-Barnes site (BagBarnes.com) and I feel like I’ve been waiting for this the entire primary season.

Guns would have at least been memorable, if also in poor taste.
I’m just consistently surprised by the total lack of seriousness on the part of this candidate – no less than a 3-star general, and he’s hiring Larry the cable guy impersonators to don camo-plumage and prance around for the camera? He should have quit while he was ahead.

Well Pappy, I’ll give you that it’s clearly low rent & amateurish & perhaps even very cheaply done. But again, the simple but merciful fact that it did not feature or even show any guns of any sort? (Something the boys over in ‘Bama are always doing this cycle?) Is the mark of someone actually thinking about what they’re doing & the impact & implications of same. That’s all I was saying. JMP

JMP,
Are you joking? Clearly you do not work in this market sector (and thank heavens). This is not “pro” level work, except maybe ipso facto… assuming Poythress was actually dumb enough to spend his money on this piece of crap.
-
We also might be supremely grateful that no firearms real or imagined or other real ‘hunting gear’ (bows etc.) are actually utilized or seen in the ad. Which not only is a nice touch, but the mark of a pro. JMP

I think its definitely targeting South Georgia where Barnes is presumably weak. If I was a rural voter I would be offended. The same way I would be if Thurbert did an ad with black people splitting verbs. Somehow these ads always work with the voters they are intended for. See the Alabama governor’s race.

Just not done in the woods when huntin’. Not so the shorts either with them bright white legs too. JMP

Good thing as Dale Cardwell is not available.

They should have hired Dale Peterson.

I kept waiting for him to whip out stars & bars flag and wave it around..

I think it’s more silly than anything else, and was clearly meant to be so. Which is why it might be particularly & dangerously memorable. Without being too mean, objectionable or offensive too. JMP

I think it is just supposed to be a funny video. Because a 90 second youtube spot is better than having a commercial on TV?
-
I can’t figure out who the target audience is here. Wouldn’t rural voters be offended by this?
-
I’m not quite seeing the race baiting. Cheap shots? Perhaps, but that’s politics in the big leagues. Obviously we can only assume the gent was speaking like or near how he learned it too. JMP

This is borderline race baiting. Clearly a play for the south Georgia rural vote. What if this was a video of black people speaking ebonics?

Roy Barnes doesn’t give a rip about
AlabamaGeorgia! Demon sheep, also. -
Less than $500-1200 For materials. Semi pro delivering the semi intelligible lines, (Free?) Wearing cammo & leafy pattern with shorts? Almost priceless. Still all in all? Not too shabby for cheap work! Taffy 3 strategy at work. JMP

Awesomely strange. I hope that’s not Ben Chao’s work.
