Price under Investigation – Cont.

“The initiation of the preliminary review by the OCE to determine whether political contributions may have influenced my vote in favor of a smaller, more responsible, government is without any merit whatsoever,”

– Rep. Ned Flanders

As a follow up to Jen’s post, the folks at the Public Campaign Action Fund send along a look into Rep. Price’s campaign contribution patterns:

Before, and in the weeks following the vote, Rep. Price received $29,000 in campaign contributions from political action committees (PACs) with a direct stake in the financial regulation debate (Table 1). On December 10th, just one day before Rep. Price voted against financial reform legislation, he held a “Financial Services” luncheon, according to Sunlight Foundation’s PoliticalPartyTime.org.

Obviously nothing to see here.  Please move along.

Mostly it damages Prices chances for a higher office run, which he’s been hoping to do for some time. He was in NH earlier this year and on the outside chance that Johnny decided to not run for his Senate seat, Tom let it be known that it was “his” seat.

What also should have been included was his abuse of “franking privileges” -although I have not gotten quite the same qty of mail this year, but in 2006 and 2008 it was off the chain with his mailers and return cards.

He’s very popular in the 6th with the country club crowd, unlikely they will bat an eye as long as he keeps voting against taxes, hates immigrants and parrots all the talking points he’s told to.

All this corruption and campaigning unfairness ruffles my feathers! I’ve been reading a lot from John Keane and Jean-Paul Gagnon’s works and think a lot more people should read them. What we understand about democracy is not enough and broken. Look into http://eprints.qut.edu.au/32495/1/c32495.pdf or http://eprints.qut.edu.au/31691/1/31691.pdf for an idea of Gagnon’s work or read the Life and Death of Democracy by John Keane. Maybe with the help of these guys was can stop all this corruption and level the playing field!!!

The Office of Congressional Ethics busted Nathan Deal this year, essentially forcing his early resignation:

Even though the 6th is a deep red district, Price damages the GAGOP by association. His resignation is probably too much to hope for, but the OCE report should make interesting reading.

Classically the major complaint, (besides not ‘staying bought’), was & remains the fact that they can be bought so cheaply! JMP
