Every election year, the State Bar of Georgia sends out a judicial survey and predictably, not a lot of lawyers respond. The State Bar has around 40,000 members and 3,214 responded. The results are here and I can’t say that I disagree with the results. The lone exception being Adrienne Hunter-Strothers, who has high number of Not Qualifieds. I think that was primarily because of the “is she or is she not statutorily qualified” question, but she was cleared last week to appear on the ballot.

Most lawyers have no idea who Chris McFadden is.

Most lawyers are glorified paper pushers, so they have no idea what happens after trial.

So let me get this straight…McFadden “wrote the book” on Georgia appellate law and apparently half of all respondents need more information to determine if he’s qualified? I mean I guess that makes sense a criminal or patent attorney won’t know much about AL I guess. Or is writing a text just not enough to build pathos in the legal community?
