Ok, so just so you know, this is technically a rickroll, but you want to check it out. For real.
On tv this morning they said we’re borrowing at about 11% interest rate, so it would have to be that just to break even.
Chrysler paid back it’s bailout in the 80’s, and somebody at the NYT thinks that the government might get paid back this time too:

Some New York Times columnist or other brought up the really good point that the government has bought the stocks of a lot of these companies to become part or full owners. I know that has you and me shouldering the risk.
However, does anyone have any idea as to what type of return the government gets when these companies are saved and they can sell off the stocks 10 years later? Is it 10%? 20%? 50%?
The question is – are we certain to have lost this money (as we have in flushing it down the desert) or is there some hope we’ll get it back?
On the news they’re all talking about an 85 billion dollar bailout here, a 200 billion bailout there, but the elephant in the room is the 600 billion dollar adventure in Iraq. That is as much of an economic issue as AIG or Fannie Mae.
John McCain has been as big a supporter of this disaster as almost anyone, and one gets the impression that he’s ready to do it all again. Just give him the slightest excuse.
We’re all a product of our experience. I believe I’ve read that kids who are beaten often grow up to be people who use force to try to get their way. John McCain himself is a victim of abuse (as a young man) and he has admitted that it worked. His behavior and his words indicate that he believes that force is an acceptable method of resolving differences. I mean, what does “Country First” mean if not a sense of superiority, a sense of entitlement, which leads to a lessened likelihood of negotiation and partnership?
Osama bin Laden must be drinking goat’s milk right now, or whatever he does to celebrate. I suspect that his agenda was always about trying to bring a little humility to us, and it must be pretty humiliating for the US government to be selling off our biggest companies to China and Saudi Arabia. The very same companies they say are necessary to the functioning of our economy! Talk about short-sightedness!

To be honest, that’s about the best I’ve got. My dislike for Fiorina is based mostly on the poorly remembered sentiments of Slashdot posters and her work on the McCain campaign. I just figured that in a tech company, if the nerds were unhappy, that was usually not the best sign of management.

That’s okay, I trust Warren Buffet’s business judgment over Fiorina’s any day. One is a serial boardroom hopper that got booted and decided to leave the business sector, and the other is the Oracle. Somehow, I’m going with the Oracle’s pronouncement that Obama could certainly run a company.
I just hope everyone who supports Obama knows that his victory is in serious doubt right now, and that they can do something right now to help him win.
