GOP candidates vs. Cong. John Lewis

File under “Hey good luck with that”.
But seriously, what are these two going to come up with to say about a singularly great man, powerful ally to many and one of the few statesmen in DC.

Lewis, now 70, hasn’t faced a Republican opponent since the 2000 election, when he defeated Hank Schwab with 77.2 percent of the vote. He said he doesn’t know much about Little or Nguyen, but he isn’t taking this election for granted.

“I’m doing a lot of listening to people in schools, in churches, grocery stores, Home Depot, Lowe’s, on the streets, wherever I see people,” Lewis said in a recent telephone interview. “I never, ever take a race for granted.”

Having had the pleasure of volunteering on his 2008 primary race, I can tell you, no one works harder on the campaign than the Congressman.

Yeah, and they know how to run against someone in power. We cannot and will not so we run these races in majority republican districts with handcuffs and leg irons on.

    “Conservatives cannot concede any race.”

Dems could learn a lot from that statement.

Rep. Lewis is a good man with a bad agenda. Republicans need to run the best candiadate they can find and make Lewis defend his positions and votes. If he has to spend a lot of time and a lot of money to defend his positions that time and money that cannot be spent on other races. One day he will be defeated or retire.

    Conservatives cannot concede any race.

I don’t know, I think he has lost some support. I predict he will only get 65-70%.
