StoryCorp Atlanta: Out and OutLoud takes place Wedneday, June 23, 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. at Radial Café.
This event is in conjunction with the many events celebrating the anniversary of the Stonewall Riots in NYC, 1969. These riots are often referred to as the birth of LBGT Rights movement.
What’s your big gay story? Love? Community? Coming out? Whatever it is, the NPR phenom StoryCorps wants to record it for posterity during Wednesday’s Out and OutLoud event at Radial Cafe in Atlanta.
As part of Atlanta Pride’s official Stonewall Week of events, StoryCorps Atlanta takes over Radial to digitally etch your mark in the national LGBT landscape permanently. The event is hosted by John Lemley of WABE radio’s City Café.
So what is StoryCorps? Only one of the largest oral history projects ever. It’s a non-profit project that seeks to record, share and preserve the stories from the lives of everyday Americans. Since 2003, more than 50,000 people have interviewed family and friends (photo) and made their conversations part of the American FolkLife Center collection at the Library of Congress.
