Chuck Pardue turned in his required signatures today in order to be placed on the ballot as an Independent for State Senate District 23. Chuck needed 3961 to get on the ballot and turned in over 6700. Now we wait until the signatures are verified which we are told could take until August 10th. It will be an interesting race to watch.
There is a Republican running (he who shall not be named) but the only Democrat who qualified to run ended up not living in the district and was tossed off the ballot. Note to future candidates: Make sure you live in the district. Chuck will start to campaign for the general election in earnest next week. Chuck is a good guy and has what it takes to win this district. It will be a true test if an Independent can really win in Georgia. As far as I can tell the last one to win was 10 years ago with Sen. Stoner. If any of you know of anyone else who has won since then I would love to know about it.
